Getting Started

Congratulations! You have just bought a birdbath, birdhouse or birdfeeder. There are some more things to consider, however, before your product is ready to attract birds.  First, you will need to think about how to hang your new item. Once you have decided on the location of the bath, house or feeder, you may need to use a hanging pole.

Finally, consider how you are going to clean your birdbath, refill your feeder, etc. Make sure the feeder is easily accessible, preferably within arm’s reach so you can remove and refill it without a lot of work.

Bird watching is a very common hobby and serious passion for many. Now that you have attracted birds, you may want to purchase a pair of binoculars, or books and videos on bird watching. This way, you will be able to identify your birds by how they look, what sounds they make, what food they prefer, etc. Soon you will be able to make your own assumptions about birds, find new food to attract new birds, and then friends will turn to you for information on birds.

Now you can enjoy the birds’ company. Picture yourself in your garden or yard with birds singing around you. Not only will this relax you after a long day, it will delight your guests.  And of course, you can feel good about helping care for our birds.
